02 Safari cargo w/ 58508 miles. Contractors work vehicle is binding up in front drive assembly. I am quoted 720.00 for Gm encoder motor after
transfer case is totally broken down to bare shaft. (Recomended diagnostic from GM tech) I was there with mechanic to witness nothing wrong with
transfer case. After 2nd call to GM tech. support, 1st diagnostics was challenged by 2nd tech. and recommended encoder motor replacement. Service dept. eat
transfer case teardown, but I could not reasonably consider GM encoder motor price when after market is 178.00. 2 days @ service, 2166.87 later, and Safari AWD is locking up again, w/less than 150 miles after service. Safari is requireing 3 & 4 attempts to start and idle. I'm frustrated w/ the Oh, bring her back and we'll fix it.... I can't afford the
down time, and believe that diagnostic's at best w/GM is guess work at consumer's cost.
